This morning aboard the Orca Spirit we had a wonderful wildlife adventure as we cruise the waters of Haro Strait, on the lookout for resident and transient orcas. Our journey took us to Speiden Island, where we spotted some exotic wildlife, including Fallow deer and Moufflon sheep. Circling overhead were some Turkey Vultures and along the shoreline, our sharp-eyed passengers even spotted a river otter! The waters today were absoltely teeming with harbour porpoise and we had some wonderful views of these incredible cetaceans. We also spotted many harbour seals along the rocks at Speiden Island. Unfortunately, this morning the whales were a little elusive, but the calms seas, sunny weather and abundant wildlife sightings made for a memorable tour.

On the afternoon trip, we headed west with reports of some L-pod whales near Sheringham Point. We arrived on scene to find the L2 and L5 matrilines. These matrilines include some of my favourite whales including Flash (L73), Saanich (L74) and Gaia (L78). We watched these animals forage and had some incredible passes from Saanich and Gaia! On our return to Victoria we stopped at Race Rocks where we were entertained by the antics of the California and Steller sea lions. What an incredible trip!
