Wednesday, June 13th

Yes L-pod is back again!! After a long winter and a short visit on Sunday, we enjoyed L-pod and its many members again today. Although the water got choppy at times and the whales were spread out feeding, we got great views of the amazing group.

We spent the day of the west shore for San Juan Island. Each tour was very unique today. On the morning tour we came across a resting pod, but after only a few surfaces, we were pleased to see them becoming more active. As they started to spread out to feed, they made it known by spyhopping, breaching and tail-lobbing.

L-pod continued foraging throughout the afternoon and evening’s tour. We moved north and south and on and off shore to get the best view as these large marine mammals follow the salmon. We were able to get great looks at Mega (L41) and Faith (L57), two of L-pods fully mature males.

Another lovely June day on the water with many more to come.
