Thursday, May 31st

This morning our tours took off westward to see if we could locate some transient orcas along the coastline. We observed a large Bald Eagle nest in Beecher Bay and not too far from the nest, an eagle perched in a tree and then another flying overhead. Our trip westward ended when a blanket of fog rolled in over the water. Along the way back, Race Rocks came mysteriously out from the fog and upon closer inspection we observed some Stellar and California Sea Lions sitting on the rocks.

We decided to head eastward for the afternoon tours to avoid encountering more fog. Our trip took us across the border to the San Juan Islands. Along the way we observed Harbour Porpoises take a few breaths before disappearing into the water. Another Bald Eagle was observed perched in a nest off the coast of San Juan. We then observed some Harbour Seals swimming in the water and tanning on the edges of Spieden Island. Although no whales were observed today, the exceptional weather made for a very enjoyable and scenic trip.
