Shortly after leaving the bright and sunny Victoria Harbour this morning, we found ourselves surrounded by the thick fog. We carefully navigated ourselves to the west side of San Juan Island.
However, even after many attempts with the hydrophone we were unsuccessful at finding orcas. We decided to leave the fog behind us and search for other marine wildlife.
Our guests were pleased when we found several groups of harbour seals basking on the shorelines of Discovery and Trail Island. At the Chain Islands we enjoyed many seabirds feeding in the bullkelp and a bald eagle sitting high on the cormorants nest.
