Today we were watching L-Pod off San Juan Island all day. We had wonderful sightings and great photo opportunities as the whales were resting for part of the day. It is really interesting to see the whales resting as the pod will travel together and surface at the same time. We were also lucky to see a lot of spy hopping as the whales were taking a look around! One whale even rolled onto its back and slapped its tail 3 times! Everyone was also excited to witness all the communication going on within the pod.
On our tours today we were also lucky to see a few Harbour porpoise as well as Harbour seals and seal pups enjoying the sunshine while hauled on the rocks.
Amongst the rocks we also saw 3 Bald Eagles looking for their next meal!
